When to start?
The WHO recommends starting solid food introduction from 6 months, while maintaining breastfeeding.
Recommended first foods
In Tunisia, you can gradually introduce:
- Vegetable purées: zucchini, carrot, sweet potato
- Local fruits: banana, apple, prickly pear (in moderation)
- Cereals: fine semolina, rice
- Proteins: chicken, turkey, fish (from 7-8 months)
Foods to avoid before 1 year
- Honey (botulism risk)
- Whole nuts (choking risk)
- Added salt and sugar
- Cow's milk as main drink
